Dr. Indhira M. Udofia is a queer womanist scholar-practitioner and licensed clinician practicing across Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado. As a first-generation Nigerian American with maternal roots in the Gullah Sea Islands, her work stands at the intersection of deep ancestral memory and contemporary institutional analysis. Her scholarship interrogates the Black Church as a technology of institutional governance, with specialized focus on spiritual trauma and the complex politics of belonging and desire within sacred spaces.

Dr. Udofia’s primary theoretical contributions include haintology—a diagnostic and prescriptive framework derived from Gullah cosmological epistemology—and Anancy Webwork, a qualitative methodology for reading power. Her development of conjure governance theory provides new language for understanding how marginalized communities navigate and transform oppressive structures. These academic pursuits are deeply integrated into her clinical practice and spiritual companionship through the Sanctuary of the Seeking, as well as her organizational consulting and leadership development work via IMU Consulting & Counseling.

Currently, she serves as a Teaching Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies at the University of Denver and functions as the Faculty Director of the Colorado Women’s College Leadership Scholars Program. Dr. Udofia’s pedagogical approach is co-creative and justice-oriented, reflecting her own rigorous academic journey. She is a graduate of Duke Divinity School, where she earned her Master of Divinity (MDiv), and Boston University School of Theology, where she completed a Master of Sacred Theology (STM). In addition, they have a Master of Social Work (MSW) from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). She holds both a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Work and a Bachelors of Arts, majoring in Women, Gender, and Sexualities Studies and Psychology, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
